Dan Barry
Daniel Patrick Barry is presently the Campus College Chair for the College of Criminal Justice & Security, University of Phoenix, Las Vegas Campus. In 2010, Dan retired from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after 30 years of service. Dan had the honor of serving in multiple assignments as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain, ranging from commanding Gangs, Organized Crime, SWAT, Internal Affairs and several different Area Commands.
Throughout his career, Dan has leaned upon the lessons he learned early in his career to always do what’s best for the people in the community and gain their trust. Unfortunately, the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing has been replaced by a Militaristic/Corporate Style of policing. The Militaristic/ Corporate Style places more attention on keeping the “top brass” happy, as opposed to the people in our communities. Dan and his wife Allison, decided to write Ready, Aim, Trust to help take back our streets; by returning to the Community Orientated Policing philosophy. Dan welcomes different perspectives, so please send your feedback to danbarry@cox.net. In his spare time, Dan enjoys volunteering with his church, visiting his children and 8 grandchildren, working out, and spending time with Allison. |
